About LOTUS RIVER

Here at Lotus River Yoga Center, yoga is a way of life, not just a workout.  We aspire to be balanced and to be mindful.  To live each day, each moment, seeking the path that lies inside of our students.  We're here to help your body be the healthiest it can be, but also, and more importantly, your mind.  Finding your path is the clarity you need.  

 

At Lotus River, Stephanie concentrates on individuals and families associated with Post-Traumatic Stress.  She offers innovative practices and meditations that focus on our military families and the daily stressors that are attached to our lives.

 

Be Home, when you're home.  Be in the Moment.  Be Mindful.

Class Descriptions

Things to Know
- Try not to attend classes on a full stomach. If possible, please wait until after your class for meals other than snacks
- Wear comfortable clothing
- Please plan to arrive to class 10 minutes prior to start time
- If you are going to be greater than 5 minutes late, please wait and attend another class
- Remove your shoes at the door
- Be sure Lotus River is aware of any ailments you may have
- Bring your own props, or feel free to use ours, some may want to bring their own eyemask
Flow
A consistent sequence of movements. Moving from one pose to the next.
Flow classes can be taken as Slow, Gentle, Power, Alignment, Warm or Hot. Please check out our class schedule to find the Flow thats right for your path.
Power
Get your body moving, sweating, engaging. Feeling powerful while moving from one pose to the next. We have Power Flow, Ashtanga Mix Flow, Bhakti and more to get your mind & body on the right path.
Alignment
In our Align classes, we will work on your alignment while flowing through the sequences. Gentle Align & Flow is also available at different times.
Yin
Yin classes are postures held for several minutes each in order to give the connective tissue time to respond.
Any rhythmic movement is a Yang exercise (weighlifting, running, hiking, gymnastics, martial arts). Yin Yoga balances out your Yang Path. It concentrates on exercising the connective tissues that surrounds the joints in the body. Connective tissue has much lower water content than muscles, so it takes much longer to become pliable.
Restorative
We live in chronic stress. And then on top of that, we have our jobs, relationships, families, things to accomplish and places to go. Learning how to relax is key to sustainability in ones own path. In restorative classes you'll move in a sequence that gently opens the spine, enhancing its health. Also your organs will be soothed by moving blood out of the organs then soaking the organs with fresh oxygenated blood.
Outdoor
We hold classes on the beach, weather permitting of course!
